Modern Shaker Kitchen – A contemporary twist on the farmhouse style

In the realm of kitchen design, the intersection of traditional charm and modern functionality often presents an exciting challenge. How does one blend the timeless allure of farmhouse aesthetics with the sleek elegance of contemporary style?

Farmhouse Kitchen Style is all about natural materials, casual and simple aesthetics.   You’ll also find features such as open shelving with metal brackets and hard-wearing worktops.  Contemporary Kitchen Style tends to include clean sleek lines and decorative touches. We merged these contrasting elements to create a space that is both inviting and functional for the whole family.

The Client’s Vision

Our client was keen to elevate the kitchen from a mere cooking space to a vibrant hub for family gatherings and social interactions.  They expressed a keen interest in infusing modern touches without compromising on the cosy warmth of their space. Collaborating closely with the client, our designer, Emma, meticulously curated a design that seamlessly captured the farmhouse shaker aesthetic with contemporary elements.

Careful selection of materials and appliances

The kitchen features Second Nature’s Belsay Smooth Shaker Indigo cabinets, which provide a sense of modern sophistication with their dark hue. To complement, Dekton Aura worktops were chosen for their distinctive marble veining. Matching Dekton splashback also clads the walls, adding a touch of drama to the space. Oak shelving and herringbone flooring echo the rustic charm of a farmhouse kitchen with its texture and character.

One of the standout features of the kitchen is the Quooker Fusion Round tap in Patinated Brass. Merging traditional style with innovation, this hot tap not only adds a luxurious touch but also enhances the kitchen’s functionality,

The layout was meticulously crafted to optimise functionality and aesthetics. By positioning the Neff ovens with their slide and hide doors at eye level, Emma ensured ease of access while maintaining a visually pleasing symmetry. The central placement of the glamorous Villeroy & Boch Belfast Sink further enhanced the balance of the space, creating a classic focal point that beckons both utility and beauty.
