The Industrial chic style kitchen is quickly becoming one of the most popular looks for homeowners who want to add a touch of sleek sophistication and minimalism to their space. They are an excellent way to add function, flair, versatility and style, that can make an incredible statement when planned and executed properly.
Our clients wanted us to make their kitchen both practical yet sociable – something that would be great with friends or family, complimenting their contemporary eco-friendly house designed by Ryan Urquhart of Baxter Design on an Aberdeenshire site which was formerly part of a farmyard.
This trend is all about taking inspiration from industrial design and mixing sophisticated materials and contrasting textures to create a space that feels both cosy and chic. If you’re looking to add an Industrial chic touch to your kitchen, start with your colour palette. Our client selected a muted base of black, grey, and white, then added pops of orange and other bold hues. These colours are inspired by volcanic stones and are perfect for achieving the Industrial look.
Pendant lights made from copper will add a touch of sophistication and practicality to the space. Finally, don’t forget about storage. Industrial chic kitchens give the user a sense of space while providing storage for all your needs. This not only looks great, but it also allows you to easily access everything you need while cooking. So if you’re ready to take your kitchen design to the next level, consider embracing the Industrial chic trend. Our client’s new space reflects what’s possible when you combine traditional values like sustainability alongside forward thinking design features.
When choosing appliances for an industrial chic kitchen, it’s important to choose brands and suppliers that have a good reputation for quality, durability and function so make sure your appliances are up to the task. Features like fold-away oven doors and taps that do it all are also important considerations when seeking a minimalistic feel.
The combination of Neff, and Miro appliances creates a sleek, modern look to the industrial chic style. The client chose this combination because they wanted a kitchen that would make a statement. And we think they succeeded! The finished product is stunning and we are proud to have helped bring their vision to life. The full specification can be found at the end of the article.
Their top priority was an induction hob on an island, with an extractor over. This will allow the family to cook efficiently and effectively while keeping the area clean and tidy. They also needed a sink at the window, with a simple sink and draining board – to make doing dishes a breeze.
Our designers get to work straight away, brainstorming ideas and drawing up plans. We incorporated some practical features into this chic and sophisticated design, such as wide pan drawers under the hob and a waste bin unit. Other essentials included a boiling water tap and integrated appliances e.g. a single oven, combination microwave, tall fridge, built under freezer and a dishwasher near the sink.
Our client achieved a truly environmentally friendly industrial chic look by choosing sustainable products for their eco-friendly house build. The Rot Punkt kitchen furniture is made of BioBoard, which is climate friendly and therefore helps to reduce the overall carbon footprint. The Dekton worktops, upstands, downturns and splashbacks are created with up to 80% recycled material, making them a more sustainable choice than traditional materials such as granite or quartz. The use of sustainable products throughout the house has helped the owners to reduce their impact on the environment and create a home that they can be proud of.

We really enjoyed the process of designing our dream kitchen with Joanna – from visiting the showroom to look at samples and go through our ideas in detail to seeing the early visuals she created for us way back in 2018 to finally, thanks covid, seeing it all brought to life when it was fitted in 2021. It more than meets expectations being exactly what we wanted and fits in perfectly within our home for the three of us.
