When embarking on a home extension, these Aberdeenshire clients knew they wanted a standout kitchen design to match their vision. From the outset, they were drawn to incorporating green – one of this season’s most prominent colours. With its grounding qualities and connection to nature, green offers a soothing, timeless charm, perfect for bringing the outside in.
The result? A brave and bold choice of Bay Green for the entire kitchen, paired with the striking veining of Dekton Awake worktops and splashbacks, a statement combination that feels fresh, inviting, and effortlessly stylish.
Reflecting on their experience, the clients said:
Great design input and fantastic attention to detail on installation.
This kitchen was carefully tailored to suit the clients’ practical needs and aesthetic preferences. They dreamed of a spacious island for gathering and entertaining, specifically without a hob or sink to maintain a clean, unobstructed surface. Designed to seat four comfortably, the island becomes a centrepiece for socialising, enhanced by a stunning glass lantern above that reflects the polished finish of the Dekton Awake worktop, creating a work of art in the heart of the home.
The Neff induction hob, Carron Phoenix Haven granite sink in Polar White, and Quooker Fusion Round tap in Antique Brass were positioned along the wall, ensuring an efficient workflow while keeping the island pristine. The choice of antique brass for the tap ties beautifully with Alexander and Wilks antique brass handles, creating a cohesive and elegant finish.
The clients initially wanted pan drawers for accessible storage, so the island features three sets of 800mm-wide pan drawers, complemented by a Dunavox Flow 17 wine cooler for entertaining. Alongside the island, two 300mm pull-out larders sit on either side of the oven housings while a wide 1000mm pantry unit provides hidden storage for appliances and spices. The open-shelved tall unit was inspired by an image in the Second Nature brochure, offering a stylish display space.
The Second Nature Mornington Shaker kitchen in Bay Green is elevated by the Lancaster Oak carcasses visible through a glass wall unit and wine rack, adding warmth and depth to the bold green. Interior lighting within the glass wall unit highlights the natural oak tones, creating a subtle break in the green cabinetry while showcasing display items.
The Dekton Awake worktops and matching splashbacks add drama and artistry with their intricate veining. By extending the splashbacks up to the wall units, the design maximises the impact of this striking material. It’s a choice that balances the bold cabinetry with a touch of luxury.
